Stand up Paddleboarding is perhaps the fastest growing water sport today. The sport had its origins in Polynesia and had recently gained popularity world wide. I got a chance to try this activity courtesy of Backroads Whistler and Stand up Paddleboard BC in Alta Lake, less than a ten minute drive from Whistler Village.
After a few minutes of ground training with my instructor Jason, I hit the waters of Alta Lake. I found Stand up paddle boarding to be a fun and easy sport to learn. I saw people of all ages and shapes and sizes trying this cool sport. This is definitely a great workout for your arms and core muscles and I would definitely recommend it for those wanting to try something a little different while in Whistler.
Aside from stand up paddleboarding, Backroads Whistler also lets visitors experience the prestine waterways of Whistler on unforgettable canoe and kayak tours. You can paddle the legendary River of Golden Dreams or historic Alta Lake.
